On Farm Sale this Saturday from 10am until 12 noon
Perhaps a Mothers Day gift or just a little something for the garden!
This Saturday the 3rd May from 10am until 12 noon we will be open to sell berry plants (bare root strawberry and raspberry), fresh eating grapes, tulip bulbs, ranunculus corms, pre-sprouted ranunculus ready to go in the garden, a few fresh flower bouquets, some dried flower bouquets and some perennial plants.
Both strawberries & raspberries will be $10 for 5 bare root plants.
Berries:
We don’t know what variety either the strawberries or raspberries are but the raspberries fruit for us for around 6 weeks from Christmas and are absolutely delicious.
The strawberries we get two fruit sets from - the first set around Christmas and the other in March. We actually get more fruit with a better flavour from the 2nd fruiting -just ask a few of those who were at our Berry Garden Walk & Talk on Saturday as they got to taste them!
The Berry Garden walkers also got to taste some of our eating grapes. These are soooo good, they bought all of the grape vines that were for sale but we have done some cuttings of the Suffolk Red (the pink one in the Berry Garden for those on the walk) and will also have some available of the white (makes great sultanas if you don’t eat them all fresh) and the dark red Ruby (the one from the hot house that makes great raisins). These are being sold as cuttings - not as plants. This means that there are no guarantees of growth - you just get the raw material to work with. Each pot has 5 cuttings and is $5.00
Bulbs and Corms:
Tulips are bagged in two separate ways - A Grade bulbs that will flower this year are in bags of 5 bulbs. Each 5 bulb bag is $7.50.
B Grade (the bulbs cropped from last year) and C Grade bulbs (which are the baby bulbs) are sold in bags for $10. Depending on which grade there will be between 20 and 30 bulbs in a bag.
The B & C grade tulips will probably not flower this year. They should send up a leaf and the bulb will grow but they probably won’t flower until next year. Buying B & C grade bulbs lets you bulk up your planting as long as you are a patient gardener! All of these varieties are great for cutting for the vase.
Plants:
All plants are bare root and are $5 each.
Come along and talk flower, plants, gardening and pick up a treat for yourself or someone you care about!
